Al Wusta Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman is an important strategic and economic region. It includes the wilayats of Haima, Duqm, Mahout, and Al Jazer, and is distinguished by its rich oil and gas resources and the presence of the special economic zone. It was named Al Wusta because of its location in the middle of the Sultanate, between northern Oman and southern Oman. It borders the Arabian Sea to the east, the Empty Quarter desert to the west, the governorates of South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhiliyah, and Al Dhahirah to the north, and Dhofar Governorate to the south.

The governorate covers an area of 79,000 square kilometers and has a population of 75,000, making it the least densely populated of the Omani governorates.

Al Wusta Governorate consists of four wilayats: Haima, Mahout, Al Jazer, and Duqm.

Barr Al Hikman Beach is a pristine peninsula located in the Wilayat of Mahout and is often referred to as the "Maldives of Oman."
