North Al Sharqiyah Governorate overlooks the inner side of the Eastern Hajar Mountains. It is bordered to the north by Muscat Governorate, to the west by Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and to the east and south by South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. North Al Sharqiyah Governorate consists of seven wilayats: Ibra, Al Mudhaibi, Bidiyah, Al Qabil, Wadi Bani Khalid, Dema Wa’t Tayeen, and Sinaw. The governorate’s center is the wilayat of Ibra.

North Al Sharqiyah Governorate has benefited from many development projects, such as the visitor center building project and the development of the water pools in Wadi Bani Khalid, the development of Al Naba Park and Al Aqidah Dam in Al Qabil, extensive tree-planting campaigns to increase green cover as part of environmental sustainability initiatives, and the launch of integrated residential plans under the national “Surooh” initiative in the Al Yahmadi (Ibra) and Saih Al Nama (Al Mudhaibi) locations.

Wadi Bani Khalid is located in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, approximately 203–250 kilometers from Muscat, the capital of Oman. Unlike many other wadis in the Sultanate, it is distinguished by its continuous year-round flow of water, making it a permanent green oasis nestled among the rugged rocky mountains.

Bidiyah Sands (also known as Al Sharqiyah Sands or the Wahiba Sands) are one of the most beautiful desert destinations in the Sultanate of Oman. Renowned for their vast stretches of golden sand dunes, they offer the perfect setting for camping, adventure activities, and experiencing the authentic Bedouin way of life.

Al Manzifah Heritage Village is a unique historical and architectural landmark located in the Wilayat of Ibra in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate of the Sultanate of Oman. The Al Manzifah Quarter is a living example of traditional Omani Islamic architecture, enriched with architectural influences from Mesopotamia and East Africa. Its distinctive design and cultural significance led travelers and historians of the past to describe it as one of the most beautiful villages in the Arab world.

Wadi Al Tayyin is one of the most famous and largest wadis in the Wilayat of Dima and Al Tayyin in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate of Oman. It is renowned for its stunning mountainous landscapes, abundant flowing water, and dense date palm plantations lining its banks.

Al Mintarib Fort is a prominent historical and archaeological landmark located in the town of Al Mintarib in the Wilayat of Bidiyah, Oman. The fort overlooks a fertile palm oasis on the edge of the Al Sharqiyah Sands. The upper two floors of the fort were built using the Al Kufi architectural style, a unique construction technique resembling honeycomb structures, designed to provide cooling and enhance the building’s strength and durability.

Al Aqabah Mosque, locally known as the Two Qiblas Mosque, is located in the Wilayat of Ibra in Oman. The mosque contains two mihrabs facing different directions: the first faces Al-Aqsa Mosque, while the other was added later to face Makkah. It is distinguished by its simple traditional Omani architecture, built using local stone.
